Watch the intricate dance of the hive, smell the sweet aroma of fresh beeswax and propolis, and gain a profound appreciation for the journey from flower to jar.

Whether you are looking to nurture a budding new hobby, curious about local apiculture, or simply seeking an unforgettable outdoor adventure, this immersive session offers a unique window into the buzzing heart of the hive. FAQ

Do I need to have any prior experience or knowledge about bees?

Absolutely not! Our experience days are designed specifically for complete beginners. We start with the basics of honeybee biology and hive structure before you ever step foot near the bees.

Will I be provided with protective clothing, or do I need to bring my own?

We provide everything you need to stay protected, including a beekeeping suit with a veil, leather gloves. All you need to bring is a pair of wellington boots.

What should I wear underneath the beekeeping suit?

We recommend wearing comfortable trousers and a long-sleeved top. Bees can occasionally sting through thin fabrics, so avoiding leggings or thin synthetics is best.

Is there a risk I will get stung during the day?

While we take every precaution and work with very gentle, docile strains of bees, beekeeping is an outdoor agricultural activity involving live insects, so stings can occasionally happen. If you have a known allergy to bee stings, you must let us know in advance and carry your prescribed medication (such as an EpiPen) with you at all times.

How long does the experience day last, and what is the general schedule?

Our experiences run as a half-day workshop from about 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The session covers introductory theory, hive management, and equipment overview followed by a hands-on hive inspection, weather permitting.

What happens if it rains or the weather is bad on the day of my booking?

Bees do not like flying in the rain or cold, windy weather because it makes them defensive and can chill the brood. If the weather is unsuitable for opening hives, we will contact you and reschedule a practical hive session at a later date.

Are there any age restrictions for participants?

Participants must be at least 10 years old to attend but they must be accompanied by a participating adult ticket-holder at all times.

Will we get to taste and take home any honey?

Yes, absolutely! You will get to sample honey during our tasting session, and every participant leaves with a complimentary jar of locally harvested honey to take home.

Can I bring a friend or family member to watch even if they aren't participating?

For safety and insurance reasons, we cannot allow non-ticket holders into the apiary or practical training zones. However, guests are welcome to relax away from the apiary.

What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy if my plans change?

We offer a full refund if you cancel up to 14 days before your booked date. If you need to cancel 14 days or sooner before your experience day we will issue a 50% refund or  transfer your booking to an alternative date within the same season, subject to availability. The booking can only be transferred to an alternative date once, if cancelled for a second time then a 50% refund will be given.
